Travel Without Leaving Home...

If you're ever in San Francisco, but you're itching to get away to Europe, look no further than Hayes Valley. Here the abundance of boutiques, cafes, outdoor gardens, restaurants&  joie de vivir will satisfy that Euro-vibe you seek. One cafe in particular comes to mind. On the corner of Linden Alley&  Laguna, stands Moby Toby's Art Bar. It's a quaint little cafe with out door seating and all the varieties of specialty coffees one could ask for. This cafe also serves sandwiches, salads and pastries for those with an appetite. Lubricating libations are available for those seeking a frosty beer on a warm day outside or a rich glass of red sitting at the window on a chilly, rainy night. Inside you'll find a cozy array of seats surrounding the windows with people in conversation, on computers, writing, reading, drinking, eating and well, just being. You could spend a quick half hour here for a bite and a brew, or hours on end people watching and experiencing the sunlit sky turn dark. The reason this neighborhood, and this cafe, exemplifies a European air is because of it's richness in culture. This isn't some nameless, dimly lit sports bar you'd find on Polk street or some snobbish, trying-to-hard wine bar/ restaurant in the Marina. Moby Toby's has a homey, yet social atmosphere, one where you don't mind sharing a table with a stranger outside or observing the live music they play on Friday nights amongst other unknown revelers. It's a classic, go-to spot where you might find a poet crafting his art, fluent German, French, or Italian speakers in conversation, or hipsters parking their bikes. So when a $1000 ticket to jet off to Europe is just out of your budget, stop by Moby Toby's and feel like you've just stepped into a place miles away from your local neighborhood haunts.
